New job board to serve local healthcare market

Georgia HealthWorks www.gahealthworks.com, a new online healthcare job board, has debuted to meet the needs of Georgia's healthcare employers and job candidates searching for healthcare jobs specifically in the Peach State

"Georgia HealthWorks is the first locally focused electronic recruitment site focused on healthcare within the Georgia region," said Amri Johnson, Georgia HealthWorks president. "Georgia HealthWorks understands that recruiting is a local process and healthcare is a local business.

We are also aware that Georgia's healthcare shortage will take local and national candidates to improve it.

Our local focus and national reach allow us to key in on healthcare professionals within Georgia, as well as market to those who have chosen Georgia as their next or perhaps permanent residence

In addition to providing employer and candidate postings online, Georgia HealthWorks also will sponsor continuing education and networking seminars that allow local health professionals to develop their careers, as well as learn from their peers and experts throughout the state.

Johnson said Georgia HealthWorks was created to address the healthcare workforce shortage in Georgia, which is expected to increase as the population grows, especially among older Americans. In Georgia, overall population growth has increased 26 percent over the past 10 years and 20 percent among residents 65 and over. "The urgency of these circumstances suggests that healthcare services are and will be in greater demand in the future," he said.

According to the Georgia Department of Labor's industry employment projections, the health services sector will add another 93,000 jobs, both clinical and support positions, during this decade. This represents a 34 percent increase in healthcare jobs compared to 10 years ago. And it doesn't take into account replacement of healthcare workers, according to the report, "What's Ailing Georgia's Healthcare Workforce?" published by the Georgia Department of Community Health, Healthcare Workforce Policy Advisory Committee
