Xerox to cut 800 jobs
Xerox Corp. said it will cut 800 jobs this month in the United
States under previously announced restructuring plans.
The Stamford, Conn., office equipment maker, best known for its copiers and printers, said the cuts will stretch across sectors such as management and clerical, but not manufacturing. They include 200 jobs in the Rochester, N.Y., area.
After
the cuts, Xerox's global employment will be about 62,000.
Xerox spokeswoman Christa Carone said the company does not
expect "any additional major actions going into 2004."
"Heavy lifting on restructuring is behind us," she said.
