Major
Accomplishment:In 1999 Jon took on the excitement and risk
of TopGrading his firm. Jon began by allowing Brad Smart,
the author, consultant and inventor of TopGrading to start
with him. Using the widely known "A" talent bar
which has been adopted by Mckinsey and Company as part of
their War for Talent work.
Jon has changed his corporate leadership group from 19% to
61% "A" talent by the end of 2001. Jon's programs
and processes allowed their employees to complete the assessments
in an empowering manner. Only 30% left the company. A greater
number were re-assigned and quite thankful for the opportunity
to perform at the level of their competency not above it.
7 of 8 HR managers were re-assigned. In 2002 Jon was acknowledged
as the IACPR outstanding individual for his contribution in
the development of talent and human resources management.
About
Jon A. Boscia:
Jon A. Boscia is chairman and chief executive officer of Lincoln
National Corporation. He also serves as a director of many
Lincoln affiliates.
Boscia joined Lincoln National in January 1983 as vice president
of strategic planning for Lincoln National Pension Insurance
Company. In May 1985, he was elected a senior vice president
of Lincoln National Pension Insurance Company and executive
vice president of Lincoln Investment Management.
In 1991, he was appointed president of Lincoln Investment
Management and executive vice president and chief investment
officer of Lincoln National Corporation. Boscia was appointed
in May 1994 as president of The Lincoln National Life Insurance
Company. In October 1996, he was appointed chief executive
officer of The Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. Boscia
was named president of Lincoln National Corporation in January
1998 and became chief executive officer in July 1998. Boscia
became chairman of the board of directors in March 2001 and
continues to serve as chief executive officer.
Before joining Lincoln National, Boscia was employed by Mellon
Bank, Pittsburgh, in various investment, product development
and marketing positions. He holds a bachelor's degree and
an honorary doctor of human letters degree from Point Park
College and a master of business administration degree from
Duquesne University, both located in Pittsburgh.
Boscia is a member of the board of Greater Philadelphia First,
the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Committee to Encourage Corporate
Philanthropy, the Philadelphia Police Foundation, the World
Affairs Council of Philadelphia and the Hershey Foods Corporation.
Boscia also serves as a board member of the American Council
of Life Insurers and serves on three of their committees:
the CEO Oversight Groups on Optional Federal Charter and Estate
Tax Task Force, and chairs the Financial Services Steering
Committee.
