Gerard R. Roche is Senior Chairman of the international search firm of Heidrick & Struggles.

In over thirty-five years as an executive recruiter, Gerry has worked with hundreds of corporations and their corporate boards. He has identified top executives throughout the world in almost every function and industry, placing more CEOs than any other recruiter. These include companies such as AT&T, Broken Hill Proprietary, Compaq Computer Corporation, Electronic Data Systems, IBM, and more recently Home Depot, PricewaterhouseCoopers, PwC Consulting, Sears, Roebuck & Co., The ServiceMaster Company, 3M and The Gap, Inc..

Widely recognized in the industry, Gerry has recently been named "Headhunter of the Century," chosen by his peers in a poll conducted by Hunt Scanlon Publishing Co., Inc. Earlier, he had been recognized as the #1 General Management recruiter in all three editions of The Career Makers, a HarperCollins book, published in 1990, 1992, and 1995.

Joining Heidrick & Struggles in 1964, Gerry became Senior Vice President and Eastern Manager in 1973. Named Executive Vice President early in 1977, he was responsible for all domestic operations. The following year he became President and Chief Executive Officer. In 1981, he moved to Chairman to permit greater time for the high-level search work for which he is internationally known.

Earlier, Gerry was an Account Executive for the American Broadcasting Company; a Sales Manager, Product Manager, and Marketing Director for the Kordite Corporation, the plastics subsidiary of the Mobil Oil Company; and a Management Trainee at AT&T. Gerry received a B.S. with honors from the University of Scranton, an M.B.A. from New York University, and an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Scranton.

Gerry is a member of the Knights of Malta, and on the Boards of Directors of The National Mentoring Partnership, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, and the Advisory Council of The Divinity School at Harvard University. He is a former Director of Gulfstream Aerospace (acquired by General Dynamics in 1999), a former member of the Executive Council of The Inner-City Scholarship Fund, and the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton Business School Executive Board. Gerry is also former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, the University of Scranton.

An avid golfer and voracious reader, Gerry and his wife, Marie, have three children and four grandchildren. They reside in Chappaqua, New York. Gerry's clubs are Blind Brook, Loblolly Pines, The Sky Club, Sleepy Hollow, University, and Yale.
