No one understands the talent market like the recruiters, HR professionals, and talent acquisition experts working on the front lines. Every month, Recruiter.com surveys its network of 28,000+ independent recruiting and talent acquisition specialists to better understand the challenges and opportunities facing the industry.
At 3.8, May's recruiter sentiment is an improvement over April's, tying March for the highest sentiment score on record. After April's disappointing Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report, May's uptick in sentiment indicates a stronger job market performance this time around.
But recruiters may still be struggling to find candidates: Candidate sentiment declined in May from 3.6 to 3.4, and 45 percent of recruiters reported the number of applicants per open role declined as well. As one survey respondent put it: "Everywhere is hiring, but no one wants to work."
