Once focused only on laborers, the staffing industry has grown to include every type of profession, from specialized IT and accounting roles to executive management level consultants.

Employment Agencies are used by those looking for jobs or making career changes. The agency becomes the person's advocate and broker, preparing resumes with them and sending them out to a variety of employers that fit their skills in order to locate a job. There is no fee generally due from the candidate, but rather the agency gets paid when an employee is hired through the client, either by a placement fee or on an hourly basis as in the case of most staffing assignments.
