globeTalent Board, the nonprofit organization focused on promoting and elevating the job candidate experience, just released the Candidate Experience 2012 report, which shares the results of the 2012 survey of more than 17,500 employers and job candidates from its awards and benchmarking program, the Candidate Experience Awards.

Also known as “CandEs,” the Candidate Experience Awards seek to highlight the latest “innovative practices, technologies and standards that some of the most candidate-conscious employers are implementing to enhance all aspects of their talent acquisition process.” Some of 2012’s winners included ADP Inc., Deloitte, Informatica, ATT, Walmart Canada Corp. and Intuit Inc.

In just its second year, the CandEs have grown significantly with58 percent more companies participating in 2012. The latest results show that candidates and employers are taking notice of candidate experience and its impacts while working to improve their recruiting, screening and hiring practices.

A few highlights from this year’s report include:

  • 53 percent of job candidates polled indicated an existing relationship with the company prior to applying, either as a customer, advocate or with family/friends already at the company
  • Employee referrals are four times more likely to receive an offer than non-referrals
  • Candidate job search engagement through connections/relationships on LinkedIn (65.3 percent), Facebook (38.5 percent), Google+ (28.9 percent) and Glassdoor (17.3 percent) are developing significantly
  • More than half of candidates surveyed said they are “Likely” or “Very Likely” to tell their inner circle of friends about their positive (73.5 percent) or negative (60.7 percent) experiences
  • The “black hole” practice where no status or notification is ever given is decreasing among firms that competed for the 2012 CandEs.
