Infographic-DayintheLifeRecruiter section Ever wonder what’s it’s like for recruiters? Or, if you are a recruiter, do you ever wonder if job seekers, hiring managers and others understand the ins and outs of your role?

Well, to help answer these questions and more, temporary workforce employer Headcount Management has created the “A Day in the Life of a Recruiter” infographic.

So, just what does it reveal to us?

How Recruiters Spend their Time Each Day

  • 21 percent of recruiters spend time each day dealing with client relations while 20 percent spend time each day dealing with client organization
  • At 18 percent, recruiting employees is the third most time-consuming area in a recruiter’s day
  • 16 percent of recruiters spend time handling employee relations and completing administrative work each day

And speaking of administrative tasks, which ones take the longest to complete?

  • Internal staff (41 %)
  • HR support (20%)
  • Invoicing (15%)
  • Payroll (10%)
  • Improving technology (8%)
  • Paying bills (6%)

Now you may be thinking, can’t a recruiter just outsource to help open up time in his/her schedule? Well, according to the infographic, the majority of recruiters polled (58.9%) said they don’t outsource any tasks, while another 28.6 percent reported to outsourcing payroll.

And you may also be wondering if clearing their workloads to have more time for things is on recruiters’ list of goals for this year. Well, sort of.

The most common company goals for 2013 are 1) expand customer base (81.5%) and 2) improve performance and productivity (61.2%).  Other goals included things such as overcoming economic challenges, expanding geographically and diversifying.

While this is all great information, if you’re a job seeker you might be wondering, “When does this apply to me?” Well, the infographic also details what tools recruiters are using to connect with new clients:

  • Most recruiters use cold calls (88.9%)
  • At 74.9 percent, email is the second most common way a recruiter will connect with a new client
  • Other ways include referrals, a company’s website and social media
