view from office Some events cause you to look back retrospectively on what got you there, others cause you to think about the future and dream about what’s going to happen. But other events make you look forward and back at the same time. Few things stir your imagination and cause you to reminisce like moving. That feeling of putting your new key in the doorway or looking back once more before locking up an old office – those moments are always singularly special.

moving in I’m not moving myself, but some of our employees just did and it feels the same to me as if I were there. We just opened up a new office in Mauritius (you probably don’t know where this is, but it’s beautiful and I hope to be there myself soon.) It’s a great feeling to have a fresh start for the new year and I believe everyone at our company feels a renewed sense of optimism. I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to expand and can’t wait to move faster and do bigger things next year.

office I’ve always found that one of the tricks to keeping fresh and working hard is to physically move around. Back when I was in sales, whenever I wasn’t motivated, I would move my desk. It would force me to go through all of my old stuff until there was nothing left to do but pick up the phone and actually make some sales calls. I think over the years working at Modis, I sat at every desk in the entire office.

No matter the size of your business, it’s always so important to keep motivated and embrace change. Business growth and change of any size can be scary. But in most cases, scary is good. It changes your view and makes you work harder. Although the view from my office looks very little like the new view from this new office (first picture), I know that my mental view is changed once again. And that’s so important – especially heading into a new year.

To our new employees and folks in the new office, I wanted to say a quick thank you for all of your hard work and effort this year. We’re all looking forward to next year with a new and improved view. I hope you and people reading this feel the same hope and inspiration that I do about the future.
