care Care.com, a well-known portal for finding local child and special needs care, is jumping into the recruiting business. Care was founded in 2006 and has grown quickly to be a leading method of finding babysitters, nannies, and senior care professionals. The company has received some high profile attention, including investment from Brian Swette, former COO of Ebay, and Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn.

“Professional caregivers are in hot demand right now,” said Sheila Lirio Marcelo, Founder and CEO. “From December 2011 to January 2012, we saw a 66 percent increase in jobs posted across the board – from child care and senior care, to pet care and tutoring. With the addition of Care.com’s Recruiting Solutions™, care providers interested in working for businesses can further tap into this demand. Ultimately, whether connecting with families in search of care or locating businesses looking to hire care providers, at Care.com those seeking employment within the care field have the power of choice.”

Care.com is capitalizing on some very strong demographic and economic trends. The care sector has experienced particularly high growth as of late. Nearly 4/10 mothers are the primary breadwinners for the family, which drives up the demand for childcare services. The demographics work out well for the industry also: the population of people over 65 years of age is expected to grow to 72 million people by 2030.

“Our overall goal with Care.com’s Recruiting Solutions™ is to provide care-related businesses with an easy and streamlined way to find and hire great employees”, said Josh Fine, VP of Business Marketplace. “As the hub for both care providers and care seekers, Care.com is optimally positioned to meet the needs of care-related businesses in search of employees. We’ve seen tremendous responses to Recruiting Solutions in less than two weeks of the product launch, confirming that it addresses a real need in the care industry.”
