Today’s Question: The hiring manager-recruiter relationship is not always great – but we believe it can be! What do you think recruiters can do to make life easier for hiring managers, thereby strengthening this sometimes troubled relationship?

Simon1. Use Better Tech

HR tech innovation can greatly aid the hiring manger and recruiter relationship. With our clients, we find that, when recruiters are empowered with video interviewing technology, they are able to better support hiring managers by showcasing candidates’ talents more directly. Hiring managers find many resumes to be generic, but video can help them get a better feel for who their candidates are.

Also, tech can also help hiring managers save more time by limiting the number of internal meetings they have to have with recruiters. When hiring managers can review applicants’ video interviews on their own schedules, they can make better decisions in less time.

AJ2. Screen Your Candidates Harder

The biggest piece of advice I would give recruiters is to find the best person suited for my position, rather than simply give me a bunch of candidates in the hopes that I’ll hire on. My time is extremely limited, and I am always busy, so anything you can do to save me time is greatly appreciated. Most of the time, at least in my situation, quality is much more important than quantity, anyway.
