newsTweetMyJobs, a social media job board, and myStaffingPro, an applicant tracking system, announced they have joined forces to provide recruiters with greater access to social media job posting and applicant tracking capabilities.  The new JobBurst software will enable recruiters to manage the social media distribution of all their jobs from a single control panel.

Gary Zukowski, CEO of TweetMyJOBS announced, “Now, not only will myStaffingPro users be empowered with the ability to reach job seekers in a very efficient and focused manner, but, just as importantly, they’ll be able to track those applicants across their social media presence — whether its via LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter.”

As job posting by recruiters on Twitter and other social media sites increases, it is interesting to watch the evolution of recruitment technology. Twitter’s use has exploded and recruiting technology vendors like these quickly launched services. Standard job boards have incorporated some of the features of social sharing sites, such as distributing jobs through a tweet, and even some direct-messaging capabilities. No particular service has “won” the battle for dominance of this new form of job posting technology. As we see new companies continuing to address social capabilities and build on their services, one things is clear – the barrier for entry is growing, and certain players will become entrenched.

When Thoreau wrote, “Simplify, simplify,” he probably did not have technology for recruiters in mind.  However, as social capabilities become more fine-tuned for recruiters, surely, their lives will benefit from the added simplicities.  How about taking the dog for an extra long walk today?
