Validation engineers assist in the production of products which meet internal and external specifications for purity, safety, and quality. These engineers accomplish their task by coordinating validation activities and developing protocols and procedures which ensure that the required standards are met. In cases where deviations from specifications are suspected, validation engineers work to identify the problems which caused the initial deviation, and to suggest steps to remedy the situation. Their work may involve the creation and maintenance of complex databases for tracking validation activities that have been conducted. A Bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for this profession, but many validation engineers have also pursued Master's degrees.
