And with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) projecting that 1,606,000 students will graduate in the college Class of 2014 with bachelor’s degrees, it’s pretty clear to see why investing in millennial talent is important.

To help give employers an insight into what appeals to millennial workers, ConnectEDU, a technology company helping guide students transition into their career, recently released its Top 25 Best Places to Work for Recent Grads list for 2014. According to ConnectEDU, these companies have important characteristics that attract millennial talent.

Those include:

ConnectEDU says that these programs allow recent graduates to try out different areas of a business, gain experience in a variety of roles, and ultimately inform their decision about which area best fits their skills and career goals. Millennial workers want to try their options out before making an ultimate decision.

  • Mentorship:92 percent offer mentoring to new employees

Mentorship provided by these companies shows that they are willing to invest in their new talent, ConnectEDU says, and provide advice and leadership to grow these employees into the best they can be.

  • Social media:100 percent allow employees to use social media at work

Studies show that millennials place a heavy emphasis on using social media in the workplace when it comes to deciding which company to work for.

  • Work-Life balance: The average salary for an entry-level position at these top companies is $56,200

Each of the companies also provides a reasonable amount of paid vacation time (avg. 15 days/year) and sick days (avg. 7 paid sick days/year) and benefits like health benefits, 401(K), tuition reimbursement, and annual company bonuses.

  • Team-Oriented:100 percent describe themselves as “team-oriented”

ConnectEDU says that this community-inspired approach to company culture is in line with many entry-level candidates’ preferences.
