ConnectEDU_Logo Education and employment web-based solutions provider ConnectEDU recently released “Modern Ways to Fill A Talent Gap,” a new e-Book that outlines solutions for employers to overcome talent challenges, i.e. the lack of available qualified candidates.

“The biggest talent issue companies face is finding enough qualified workers to fill jobs, but oftentimes a region and the companies that sustain it haven’t done enough to build a talent community,” said ConnectEDU’s Chief Business Intelligence Officer, Stan Jackson. “Aligning workforce supply to demand requires collaboration between a community and its companies to create an engaged and ready talent ecosystem.  Although the hiring needs of different regions and companies are varied, there’s one consistency – the need for best-matched talent.”

Topics within the new book include:

  • Connecting skilled talent with local workforce opportunities: Steps that local chambers, employers and communities can take to remain competitive and attract new talent from outside of the region
  • Training potential talent for industry alignment:Insight on how businesses can engage underdeveloped and unemployed workers as local economies shift into new industries.
  • Investing in the talent of the future:Mitigating the skills gap by partnering with K-12 schools; and mentoring students at postsecondary institutions to alert them of job opportunities and the necessary skills for those positions.

“Communities can meet local demands by acquiring new, skilled talent; preventing the exodus of local talent to other competing employment hubs; by re-purposing available talent through additional education, training and professional development opportunities; and aligning early and postsecondary education programs to local workforce needs as a way to develop the growth of the future talent pool,” Jackson said.  “To do this, communities should build their online talent brand to highlight specific industry opportunities and the benefits of working in the region, utilizing a collaborative company and community network to better connect talent to employers.”
