checkAberdeen Group, a leading third-party provider of business research, recently completed its Human Capital Management Trends report, co-sponsored by talent acquisition solutions provider iCIMS. The study discovered that best-in-class companies are boosting productivity, improving customer satisfaction, and motivating employees through the use of recruitment technologies . The efficient use of talent management processes creates an environment for substantial business improvements.

Almost 300 companies were surveyed on their performance in Human Capital Management (the finding, recruiting, and retaining of talent). Of the top performing, “best-in-class” companies (top 20 percent), 81 percent rated themselves as highly engaged in the HCM process, 71 percent of positions had pre-identified successors, and there existed an overall 13 percent annual improvement in the satisfaction of hiring managers. The key enabler for these successes was identified as the utilization of a recruitment technology platform.

The report determined that currently 62 percent of best-in-class companies use a recruitment technology platform, compared to 54 percent of industry average companies, and 46 percent of laggard (bottom 30 percent) companies. The report comments on the need for higher operational efficiency due to the uncertain economic climate, and the relationship between recruitment quality and overall productivity.

Efficient recruitment fills positions both quickly and cost-efficiently while increasing the quality of hires. Automating the recruitment process allows HR professionals to focus less on administrative tasks and more on the recruitment and development of talent. Mollie Lombardi, Research Director and co-author of the report states, “The best-in-class display a number of common core characteristics; one of which is an investment in world-class technology throughout most aspects of talent and workforce management.”
