arrows out Even while job seekers are more frequently turning to mobile devices for their job search needs, employers are not working to meet their needs by implementing mobile recruitment strategies. As reported in a survey by Potentialpark, 26 percent of job seekers are using their mobile devices for career-related purposes and an additional 59 percent can foresee themselves doing so in the future. Butonly 13 percent of employers reported having a career website designed for mobile users.

Respondents using or interested in using mobile devices for career purposes were most interested in mobile features allowing them to search available job openings (69 percent), track application status (63 percent), and research companies and their available career opportunities (47 percent). Respondents also showed a positive interest in career apps with 56 percent saying they would use one; a 9 percent increase over 2012.

On the upside, Potentialpark found that several top companies did have some attractive mobile options available. Companies such as Orange, PepsiCo, and Credit Suisse have comprehensive mobile recruitment platforms in place including mobile career sites and career apps. However, just 10 additional companies (out of 698) had similar offerings. Other organizations recognized by Potentialpark for their mobile talent communications included Sodexo, Accenture U.S., KPMG, Daimler, Shell, and Fresenius.

Of available mobile career sites, 71 percent offered functioning job search, which was the top option preferred by mobile job seekers.
