ZipRecruiter logoWhen it comes to the job seeking and recruitment world, mobile is the new black (or whatever the “in” color is this year). As a matter of fact, when it comes to the world in general, mobile is the way to go.

The numbers explain it perfectly: 73 percent of Americans use their mobile devices to text and take pictures, 44 percent to access the internet, and 38 percent to send/receive email. If the numbers for “casual” mobile-device usage are so high, wouldn’t it make sense for the recruitment world to reflect the same? Of course they should, and they do.

According to an infographic from Beyond.com, 77 percent of job seekers use job search apps, while employers offering mobile-friendly websites has continued to increase (57 percent).

Job distribution board ZipRecruiter is no exception. The company currently has job search pages “already optimized to look great on any device.” Now it’s added a new and beneficial feature, taking the mobile job search process one step furtherMobile Quick Apply.

The mobile users on ZipRecruiter’s site who don’t have a resume on file enter a streamlined application process. After going through “a few simple drop downs and a headline,” job seekers can “express interest” in jobs from their mobile devices. If a hiring manager is interested, he or she can request a full resume with one click and will receive an alert once the candidate submits a full resume.

The new feature has been extremely successful. According to the company, ZipRecruiter has seen a 100 percent increase in mobile applications in just the first week since launching Mobile Quick Apply.

“The results from Mobile Quick Apply have exceeded our expectations, reinforcing the fact that mobile is becoming a primary tool in one’s job search,” Ken Walker, head of Product at ZipRecruiter, said. “Mobile Quick Apply bridges the gap between job search and job application. Recruiters and hiring managers can now tap into the growing number of mobile job seekers.”
