recruitment advertising outlook International research firm Research and Markets has announced the release of its “2014 Recruitment Advertising Outlook: The Long Gray Line ” report investigating online advertising categories. Advertising and marketing spend by employers in 2013 hit $16 billion for finding candidates for open positions. Most of that went to online media making recruitment the number one online advertising category. Recruitment advertising always ranks above real estate as the category with the highest percentage earmarked by companies for ad budgets (78 percent).

The new jobs report provides three appendices divided into three categories: analysis and data on how job openings are determined, charts on 2013 recruitment spending, and a listing of job categories showing the number of business locations, number of employees, number of job openings by category, and marketing expenditures. The report also includes 75 charts and graphics detailing trends, job openings, and the number of candidates applying. Expenditures on marketing in newspapers, magazines, broadcast media, outdoor, and online are analyzed in addition to a look at spending on digital services.

Key topics covered in the report include:

• The Long Gray Line

• Recruitment Spending in 2014

• The (Likely) Future

• The Job Openings Metric

• 2013 Recruitment Spending Estimates

• Employer Categories

The 44 page report is available in PDF format only and will be emailed directly to purchasers under a single user license.
