Social-media-recruitment infographic section Did you know that 92 percent of companies use social media for recruiting? Or that 45 percent of Fortune 500 companies include links to social media on their career page sections? At least this is the latest data from the infographic “Social Media for Recruitment” by global employment site Staff.com.

The infographic provides a range of information on this latest trend in recruiting, from who’s using what to advice on job seekers using social media.

For starters, when it comes to the most popular social media for recruitment, LinkedIn is no.1. A whopping 78 percent of companies used LinkedIn in 2010, 87 percent in 2011 and 93 percent in 2012. These numbers easily tower over the 66 percent of companies that use Facebook and the 54 percent that use Twitter.

And because of such staggering numbers when it comes to companies using social recruitment, this must mean this strategy actually works, right? Well, yes. According to the infographic, 73 percent of companies successfully hired workers with social media, 42 percent say candidate quality has improved and 31 percent saw an increase in employee referrals.

The rise of social recruiting has also affected how job seekers search for employment, with 14.4 million U.S. job seekers previously searching for jobs on social media. Twenty-nine percent of those seeking work use social media as their primary search tool. And the rise of both job seekers and employers using social media has affected what is and is not acceptable on social profiles. The infographic explains how 3 of 4 hiring managers and recruiters check candidates’ social profiles, even if they’re not provided, and 1 of 3 employers rejected candidates based on something they found on social profiles. And, unsurprisingly, 67 percent of hiring managers and recruiters react negatively on posts of sexual nature.
