CareerBliss Lists Happiest and Unhappiest Cities to Work

 Online career community CareerBliss has released its report, CareerBliss Happiest and Unhappiest Cities to Work in 2014, based on independent company reviews from thousands of employees around the country who ranked their employers on work culture and identified factors that impact workplace happiness.

The top ten happiest cities, ranked from highest to lowest, include: San Jose, CA; Washing, D.C.; San Francisco, CA; Las Vegas, NV; Salt Lake City, UT; Houston, TX; Boston, MA; Philadelphia, PA; San Diego, CA; and Charlotte, NC.

The top ten least happy cities in which to work include: Cincinnati, OH; Orlando, FL; Indianapolis, IN; Denver, CO; Pittsburgh, PA; Tampa, FL; Columbus, OH; Sacramento, CA; Miami, FL; and Arlington, VA.

CareerBliss evaluated key happiness-related workplace factors that include a range of influencers including the relationship between an employee and his or her supervisor and co-workers, work environment, job resources, compensation, growth opportunities, company culture, company reputation, daily tasks, and daily job control. The survey accounts for the value of each factor along with how important each factor is to overall workplace happiness. At least 100 reviews were collected from each city and were collected during 2013.
