Clean Up Your Career, Part 1: The Resume

Our resumes are living, breathing documents – but most of us don’t update them until we need to put them to use.

The danger with that approach, however, is that it makes it that much easier for you to forget your key accomplishments. If you’re reaching for your resume only when you need it, time is probably of the essence. Unfortunately, in your rush to get that resume into a potential employer’s hands, you may end up sending a less-than-perfect presentation of your experience.

Don’t ever forget that your resume is a marketing document – one that needs to be tweaked regularly in order to be effective and available when you need it most. With a recent study revealing that recruiters only spend six seconds looking over a resume before putting it in the “yes,” “no,” or “maybe” pile, you’ve got even more reason to give this much maligned document a good (late) spring cleaning
