Glassdoor Top 25 Companies for Compensation & Benefits 2014 sectionGlassdoor recently  released its inaugural report on the “Top 25 Companies for Compensation & Benefits for 2014.” The rankings derive from U.S. employee feedback.

Google came in at no.1 with a 4.4 rating for compensation and benefits. The remainder of 2014’s top five included:

-Costco (4.4 stars)

-Facebook (4.3 stars)

-Adobe (4.2 stars)

-Epic Systems Corporation (4.2 stars)

Additional highlights of the list include:

  • With nearly half of all companies on 2014’s list coming from the tech sector, the tech industry, well-known for providing great benefits and perks, dominated the rankings.
  • Landing in second place, Costco is the only retailer on the list. Glassdoor said it’s ranking is primarily for providing great benefits for both its part- and full-time employees.
  • Beyond high salary, employees of the top ranking companies cited traditional benefits such as subsidized healthcare plans, 401(k), holiday pay and flexible schedules. They also mentioned non-traditional perks such as sabbaticals, free food, free transportation, on-site dry cleaning and laundry services, game rooms, and minority support groups.

Employees of the top 25 companies also offered praise for their employers:

“The company really takes care of us professionally and personally. The benefits are incredibly high. My team has been on offsites to Tahoe, Vegas, and Hawaii in the last year. The company creates an environment where you don’t really want to leave campus.” – Google Senior Software Engineer (Mountain View, CA)

“UP cares about their employees through competitive salaries, reviews each 6 mo with potential for raises, excellent benefits, PENSION (for non-union jobs), and training and development opportunities.” – Union Pacific Employee
