This Week: Top 10 Employee Wellness Tools

Employee wellness isn’t just a “feel-good” initiative that an organization undertakes in the name of good PR and self-congratulations – it’s a bottom-line-friendly business strategy.

Consider that for every dollar spent on a workplace wellness program, an employer can save up to $3.27 in health care costs. And that health-related absenteeism costs the U.S. economy roughly $84 billion in lost productivity every year. And that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “a modest reduction in avoidable risk factors could lead to a gain of more than $1 trillion annually in labor supply and efficiency by 2023.”

If those statistics have convinced you that it’s time to invest in employee wellness, then the following technologies and tools should help you do just that:

The suite includes a food journal, a diagnostic quiz, and a results tracker, making each employee feel like they have their very own health coach right in their pocket.

There are essentially two ways to use the very popular Fitbit as a part of your employee wellness program: The DIY approach, and the Fitbit Group Health approach.

The DIY approach, as outlined by Academic Director AJ Saleem of Suprex Learning : “I buy a ton of Fitbit watches during Black Friday and distribute them to employees.” A quick, easy, and to-the-point wellness initiative perfect for startups and small businesses.

On the other hand, Fitbit Group Health is Fitbit’s official B2B arm, which provides devices, software, and services to partner organizations. If your organization is a little too big for the DIY approach – or you want support and guidance from corporate wellness professionals – then Fitbit Group Health is definitely a great option.
