news block lettersWith the help of its CEO, Michael Alter, online payroll provider SurePayroll plans to help small-business owners get a better understanding of when and how to make their first hire. Alter, plans to host a First Hire TweetChat on June 5, 2013, where entrepreneurs will have the chance to ask him questions about hiring their first employees. The CEO will offer insights on:

  • recognizing the signs a new business is ready to make a hire;
  • best practices for determining the right hire; and
  • the legal and financial obligations to be aware of as an employer.

“Determining when to hire the first employee and knowing how to go about it properly can be incredibly intimidating, while undergoing the process represents a mountain of work when business owners are already pressed for time,” Alter said. “I hear the same questions over and over again: When do I hire? How much do I pay? How do I go about getting my new employee on payroll? What about taxes? There’s a significant appetite for assessing the need to make a hire and how to navigate the process.”
