NewsTaleo, a global leader in SaaS-based Talent Management solutions, has recently teamed up with First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to assist in their Joining Forces initiative, a national program designed to support America’s veterans  and their families through employment opportunities, education, and wellness, while raising awareness about the service, sacrifice, and needs of these individuals. Taleo also has plans to support President Obama’s goal of  hiring or training 100,000 unemployed veterans and their spouses by 2013.

“America’s veterans risk everything on our behalf, and now that they’re safely home and back with their families it’s our turn to do what we can to repay their courage and sacrifice,” said Michael Gregoire, Chairman and CEO at Taleo. “By working closely with our more than 5,000 corporate customers, Taleo is making it easier than ever for unemployed veterans to find jobs. And here at Taleo, we’re committed to identifying open positions that will benefit from the unique experience that those who’ve served can bring to our corporate culture. We’re proud to support the Joining Forces initiative and to help meet President Obama’s challenge to the private sector.”

To encourage the success of these programs, Taleo has laid out a three step plan:

  • Taleo will launch a Quick Start guide to help its customers implement a new HTML method for tagging positions that can quickly and easily be located by job-seeking veterans. These tagged positions will instantly appear on the customer’s career website, Taleo’s Talent Exchange, or throughout the customer’s social media channels. These specially marked postings will also be accessible through the newly launched Veterans Job Bank, a search widget powered by the National Resource Directory designed to assist job seeking veterans.
  • Veterans will also have access to Taleo’s Talent Exchange, a free online candidate marketplace that connects job seekers with thousands of prospective employers. Veterans will be able to build a profile and broadcast their online resume, increasing their exposure to new opportunities.
  • Finally, Taleo itself has signed on as a Joining Forces Member; and is committed to identifying positions within their organization that would be ideally suited for military members and their spouses.

“We ask our men and women in uniform to leave their careers, leave their families, and risk their lives to fight for our country,” said Aneesh Chopra, United States Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Assistant to the President. “The last thing they should have to do is fight for a job when they come home. That’s why Joining Forces is so important to our veterans, their families, their communities, and the nation at large. We applaud the efforts of companies like Taleo, who recognize that connecting out-of-work veterans with a good job is an important step toward repaying the enormous debt we owe these brave men and women.”
