The FitNew career site theFIT, developed with both job seekers and currently employed people in mind, wants to crack open the heads of current and future workers with provocative questions about culture in the workplace.

The website is developed by recruiting and staffing software provider Bullhorn, Inc. While not currently debuting nationwide, theFit is now serving the job markets in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Oakland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

The primary features on offer at the site include answers to “burning” questions, corporate culture  snapshots, and social connectivity. Presenting initial data from the 5,000 people who have so far surveyed on theFIT, the website shares information that is never collected in interviews or in job postings. A sampling of the questions from the site include probing and loaded questions such as: “Is your boss fair?” “Have you ever dated or had a fling with a co-worker?” and “Are there any openly gay co-workers in your office?”

theFIT also provides “culture snapshots” which present the workplace environment of a company as reported and ranked employees. Based on the results of employee polls, companies are awarded badges such as “Amazing Perks,” “Incredible Mentors,” and “Earning Potential.”

Registration for the site requires a preexisting account at Facebook or LinkedIn. This social connectivity allows members to communicate with co-workers, for business or pleasure. The site also hosts a job board where job-seeking members can use their social network to find potential employment. Art Papas, CEO of theFIT, had this to say about the relevance of his service, “For the past 10 years, we’ve worked with recruiters to develop technology solutions to better match candidates with employers. But, the biggest hurdle in the hiring process is always fit, and there is absolutely no way to screen for it. In fact, 46 percent of employees who quit do so within 18 months of being hired. It’s a gaping hole in the employment process and we designed theFIT to fill the void and prevent such a rapid turnover.”
