Vault logoCareer management and job search portal Vault.com just released its list of the Top 10 Internships for 2012. The internship categories included the top finance, non-profit, best perks and overall top internships.

Vault’s Top Internships result from two surveys with around 130 participants. Companies and non-profit organizations provided an overview of their internship programs, which covered logistics, hiring criteria and application requirements. The companies also distributed intern experience surveys to their current and former interns to understand the internships from interns’ perspectives.

The top internships in each category were selected based on a range of ratings from formal and on-the-job training to mentorship and insight into the industry and future career paths.

Our internship rankings highlight some of the most innovative and useful prospects to our users, and our profiles offer a glimpse into what it’s really like to work inside of a particular organization,” said Tara  McCaffrey, VP of Marketing at Vault.com.

Below are the Top 10 Internships for 2012. They are listed alphabetically and aren’t ranked in any particular order.

  • Capital Fellows Programs
  • Deloitte LLP
  • Houlihan Lokey
  • J.P. Morgan’s Investment Bank
  • KPMG
  • Mass Media Science Engineering Program
  • Nickelodeon Animation Studios
  • Northwestern Mutual
  • Southwest Airlines

Survey respondents gave Bain’s full-time employment prospects a 10 out of 10 while participants reported that both the meaningfulness of the work and the challenge of the projects at Mass Media Science Engineering Program also deserved a 10 out of 10.

ATT Financial Leadership, Northwestern Mutual, J.P. Morgan’s Investment Bank and Goldman Sachs made the Top 10 Finance Internships for 2012. List. The surveys showed Goldman Sachs’ interns favored the industry insight and a potential career path they gained while at this internship.

The Top 10 Non-Profit Internships for 2012 included museums, zoos and theater companies, such as the Chicago Children’s Museum, The Maryland Zoo Baltimore and Steppenwolf Theatre Company.

The Top Internships with the Best Perks for 2012 looked at companies that offered benefits outside of the regular internship day from free travel and social events to housing and gym membership. Bain Company and Deloitte LLP also made this list as well as Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
