NewsThe U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) reported that nearly 100,000 discrimination complaints  were filed equating to over $455 million in collected relief for victims. Charges ranged from harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.

Fair Measures, that offers employee and management training via classrooms and webinars, is offering classes to teach managers and executives how to remain in compliance with federal laws and regulations. Fair Measures may be contracted to either provide face-to-face training or through online workshops. Additionally, downloadable products such as policy explanations for topics like anti-harassment, privacy, and layoffs. Employees may also order policy information to become informed of their rights and when it is appropriate to take legal action against perceived discrimination.

Fair Measures’ trainers are attorneys specializing in employment law and oversee both the administration of classroom training and online courses. The company also specializes in California harassment compliance laws and sensitivity training for management and senior executives. Fair Measures provides training on a regular basis and is geared toward employers who need to comply with employment law, increase employee satisfaction, reduce litigation, or all of the above.

The poor economy and high unemployment is frequently blamed for the increase in workplace discrimination complaints. As the employment rate drops, incidents of discrimination lawsuits are expected to fall but the number of EEOC charges are inherently unpredictable. It is important to ensure that all upper-level employees are trained in avoiding and preventing discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in the workplace.
