expanding blue arrows LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, wants to ensure that the time users spend on the social network will make them better at their jobs. The company recently opened its publishing platform to its members, which allows them to share their expertise and build their professional brand by posting original long-form content.

“When a member publishes a post on LinkedIn, this original content becomes part of their professional profile, is shared with their network and has the ability to reach the largest group of professionals ever assembled,” LinkedIn’s Ryan Roslansky writes. “Now members also have the ability to follow other members that are not in their network and build their own group of followers. Members can continue to share their expertise by posting photos, images, videos and their original presentations on SlideShare.”

So, what does this mean for recruiters? Well, now that LinkedIn recently enabled members to further showcase their professional brands via their own long-form content, talent professionals will have more insights that they can access to better specify and select the best candidate for the job.

According to Roslansky, 25,000 members already have the ability to publish content on LinkedIn and the social network will steadily expand the new capability to all members in multiple languages over the next few weeks and months.
