news With Google Plus and now Pandora, it seems like everyone who’s anyone is launching a social network. Pandora is launching a new version of their internet radio service that also acts as a social network.

The new Pandora will allow users to post comments and follow their friends, while social media standards such as liking and sharing will be supported with additional features from the internet radio giant.

Pandora touts over 100 million registered users and 36 million monthly active users. Any social network that size means serious business.

“During the Company’s first Analyst Day, Pandora’s CEO and President Joe Kennedy noted that Pandora is redefining radio, where 80 percent of all music listening occurs. Pandora ended 2010 with 2.3 percent market share of all radio listening in the United States. Six months later, Pandora has increased its market share to 3.6 percent of all radio listening in the United States,” a recent Pandora press release stated.

The new Pandora arrives with the website’s HTML5 update, which promises faster loading times. It remains to be seen how successful yet another social network will be – especially one that revolves around music.
