people in bubble It’s that time of year again. Global background screening provider, EmployeeScreenIQ, is currently looking to discover the top issues that concern today’s HR professionals through its fifth annual survey measuring trends in employment background screening. Last year’s survey received nearly 1,000 responses and the screening company hopes to double this number in 2014. All HR professionals, hiring managers, recruiters and industry experts across North America are encouraged to participate in this year’s survey here .

For the 2014 survey, EmployeeScreenIQ aims to measure the various influences on employers’ hiring decisions and how hiring professionals respond when adverse information is revealed. For example:

  • What impact has the EEOC guidance on the use of criminal records had on employers since its release in 2012?
  • How are employers handling job applicants with criminal backgrounds?

The above question is extremely important, as lawsuit threats over discriminatory hiring practices, credit checks, resume distortion and social media searches are just a few of serious challenges facing the HR industry when conducting employment background checks.

“We are hoping to duplicate and even improve upon the overwhelming response we experienced to last year’s survey,” Nick Fishman, chief marketing officer for EmployeeScreenIQ, said. “In these challenging times for employers, I think our industry is eager to both share and to learn from one another in regards to tough hiring issues and best practices in response.”

Each survey participant will receive an executive summary of the results (when they become available) and a chance to win one of two $250 American Express gift cards.
