opened manilla folder A presentation by Human Capital Institute (HCI) CEO Carl Rhodes and Oracle Vice President Lesley Hoare at the Human Capital Summit and Expo 2014 revealed that employers are falling far short of meeting the mobile technology expectations of job candidates. The reasons for this include lack of money, inadequate staffing, poor technology, lack of training, and a lack of support from IT departments. Rhodes and Hoare said that HR executives need to use the latest collaboration tools, analytics, and mobile technologies if they want to recruit and retain the best talent.

Turnover of high performers at “talent-centric” organizations, including those most focused on recruiting the best talent, was 15 percent compared to 23 percent at other employers. About 70 percent of job seekers use mobile devices when searching jobs and mobile-friendly job apps, according to Leslie Hoare, are the future of the recruitment process. However, even talent-centric employers are not fully utilizing mobile recruitment technology as just 33.9 percent use mobile for recruiting and 20.3 percent use it for applicant tracking.

But, according to HCI research, these organizations do recognize their mobile technology shortcomings in the employment market. Just one third reported that they effectively provide a consistent user experience on mobile sites. Only 25 percent think that they are doing a good job at offering an intuitive user interface.
