Effective communication and an inherent ability to influence people is what led me to consider the ‘Search’ trade as my career path.
Overwhelmed with my prowess to yap, my first employer (A premier staffing Organization) offered me a position at their company. Recognition was swift and served as an ample incentive to stay back with the firm for almost 4 impact-full years and growing up the corporate ladder to be elected unanimously as the ‘Vice President’ within the company where the primary challenge was to give strategic direction, develop business opportunities while harnessing and nourishing a world-class team.
This was the time when the ‘Call Centre’ Industry in India was gaining momentum and the bug to explore that line of employment hit me and at that period when ‘Contractual Assignments’ were unheard of, I talked ‘Multinational Call Centre’ to sign me up as a contractor (Asst. Vice President) for a short term (thanks to my yapping prowess) however within a few weeks, realization dawned on me and I understood that I was not cut for this line of business my heart was just not there in the Call-Centre arena.
Considering all odds, I bounced back into the ‘Staffing & Recruiting’ world, got on-board with a ‘Start-up’, had the pleasure of meeting and associating with some truly incredible people who shaped my career by their mere presence making me a stickler for excellence in whatever I did/attempted to do.
Now after 20 years of supporting individuals in their job search, helping them achieve their career goals, assisting start-ups establish their presence, working with staffing firms of repute to increase their market share, I can boldly proclaim that truly successful staffing begins with a relationship-oriented, consultative approach with each company, client and candidate alike.
My greatest strength is my personality which is easy going, people warm up to me quickly, this quality helps me in coming alongside high-potential professionals easily, encouraging them to even greater heights by mentoring them and focusing on their key strengths.
For me, there is nothing more gratifying and enjoyable than finding opportunities for people to do smart things and helping companies create those opportunities, this is a fantastic process that I feel lucky to participate in.
