financial numbers Scientific Management Techniques, Inc. has unveiled a Process Control Assessment Program as an addition to its hands-on manufacturing skills assessment solutions. These assessment machines replicate real-world conditions in industry and can be used during the hiring process to measure an applicant’s performance in hard skills necessary for operating and troubleshooting modern manufacturing equipment. The assessment program identifies existing skills sets in the process control elements of pressure, temperature, flow, and level and can be fine-turned by candidates to control a process control loop. The program then provides basic and advanced levels of assessment based on the position being staffed and required skill level.

Richard Whouley, founder and chairman of SMT said, “Each of our assessment programs have been designed based on the identified needs of our industrial client base. The Process Control assessment machine has been designed to take the guess work out of the hiring process. With the PC assessment machine and methodology our clients will know the Process Control skill set of each applicant. Many organizations also use the assessment machines to identify training needs.

“Given the state of today’s manufacturing skills shortage, all manufacturers recognize that with the proper training program their performance and profitability can be enhanced. One question our clients deal with as they consider training is: ‘who needs what training?’ Using our assessment machines we identify the specific strengths and weaknesses of the incumbent workforce individually and collectively. Based on the assessment data, SMT designs and delivers highly targeted manufacturing skills training. Administering post-training assessments quantifies the effectiveness of the training delivered and helps our clients measure the ROI of training dollars spent.”
