browser urlConnect6 recently launched PeopleDiscovery, a free browser extension that allows a user to easily view and connect with people he or she discovers online.

The new Chrome browser extension dynamically displays rich, publicly available information about a person, including a picture, title, skills summary, links to social profiles, a connection path and contact information.

“Connect6 opens up a world of insight about people. Our free service bring together massive, disparate sources of publicly available information about a person and make it immediately available while you browse the web,” Vikram Kashyap, Connect6 CEO, said.

According to the company, PeopleDiscovery places a small search beacon, or pointer, next to any unique identifier—Twitter handles, email addresses, etc. — found on a web page being browsed. When users hover over the beacon, the person’s profile is automatically displayed in Google Chrome’s sidebar, displaying important details about what a person looks like, where they are located, and their occupation.

The PeopleDiscovery browser extension can help recruiters discover passive job candidates as they browse the web for prospective hires. Connect6 says the new browser extension includes a built-in search engine for people while also enabling recruiters to source talent based on keywords embedded in their social profiles.

“Going beyond providing social profiles, Connect6 helps recruiters connect with potential candidates by providing an email address as well as a map of your shared connections,” Kyle Lagunas, talent acquisition analyst at Brandon Hall Group, said.

PeopleDiscovery is available for download at www.connect6.com. Connect6 plans to release a Firefox version soon.
