Anesthesiologists administer anesthesia to patients during medical procedures using a variety of techniques. These professionals also provide and maintain life support, and may prepare patients for emergency procedures or position patients on operative tables in comfortable positions which allow for surgeons to have clear access to areas being operated on. A doctoral degree is required for this profession.
