Finding Army Recruiter Locations

Find Army recruiter locations using one of two methods. Use a computer or other Internet-enabled device to find the nearest office. Alternatively, you may find recruiter listings in the local phone directory. Determine military eligibility and begin entry paperwork by visiting a recruiting location.

Find Army Recruiting Locations Online:

1. Visit the official United States Army website.
2. Look for the “Locate Us” link at the bottom of the homepage. This takes you to the recruiter locator feature.
3. Select an area of interest- Reserve Officer Training Corps, Enlisted, Law, etc. Indicate if you wish to go active duty or reserve status. Training and specialties are limited within the reserves. The military considers active duty as full-time employment. Reservists dedicate one weekend per month and a two or three week block of time per year to military duties.
4. Enter your zip code.
5. Review Army recruiter location listings for your area. The closest offices are at the top.

Find Recruiting Locations In The Phone Directory:
1. Obtain a copy of the White Pages. Area phone directories provide multiple listings for Army recruiter locations.
2. Find the U.S. Government section. Look for Army listings. Pay close attention to office addresses. Locations listed first may not be the closest to you or the most appropriate.

When you do go, be prepared to answer personal questions during the initial Army recruiter visit. Educational background, criminal history, marital status and physical fitness determine eligibility. Give truthful answers. Falsified information results in processing delays, dismissals or criminal charges. State personal goals and ask questions. This is a serious commitment and should be treated as such. Take the mini Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery test during the visit for an indictor of performance on the final test. As of May 2011, the ASVAB consists of nine sections: word knowledge, arithmetic reasoning, mechanical comprehension, automotive and shop information, electronics information, mathematics knowledge, general science, paragraph comprehension and assembling objects. ASVAB scores are placed in percentiles from 1 to 99, with 1 being the lowest and 99 the highest. Scoring in the 99 percentile means you scored higher than 99 percent of other applicants who took the test.

Four scores from the ASVAB generate the Armed Forces Qualification Test score. Arithmetic reasoning, mathematics knowledge, paragraph comprehension and word knowledge scores are combined. The average, called the AFQT score, determines eligibility. As of May 2011, the Army requires a minimum AFQT score of 31. Pre-screening results are sent to a central recruiting agency for review. Basic training can begin in a matter of weeks, depending on military needs.

How to Work Well with an Army Recruiter

Army recruiters work some of the longest hours of any military service personnel, and the majority of them are deeply committed to the core values of their branch of the service. They can be instrumental in helping you decide if a career in the military is right for you and in which area you would be most fitted to serve. • Answer each personal question honestly. As disappointing as it would be to be disqualified before you could even apply, it would be much worse later down the road.
• Write up your own questions in advance. Be specific and push for direct answers.
• Be courteous. Don’t show up without an appointment. Don’t make one, only to be late or not show up at all. Don’t cancel at the very last minute.

It will also eliminate the excessive phone calls from the military about joining. A recruiter is just doing their job and is not trying to trick anyone into signing their life away to the military.
